2 Men, 3 Women Earn Start Slots
SOELDEN, Austria (Oct. 14) - With a bright sun and cloudless sky as a backdrop on the Rettenbach Glacier, the U.S. men's and women's alpine teams staged time trials Friday to complete the starting lineup for the opening World Cup giant slaloms Oct. 22-23.


Men's Time Trial: 3 into 2 = ...?
SOELDEN, Austria (Oct. 13) - The math, i.e., three into two, doesn't fit cleanly, but that will be the situation Friday when three men vie for two start spots in a U.S. Ski Team time trial to complete the American men's lineup for the first World Cup race of the season, a giant slalom Oct. 23 on the Rettenbach Glacier.
Time Trial Friday for 2 WGS Slots
SOELDEN, Austria (Oct. 12) - U.S. women will have a time trial Friday to help fill two remaining giant slalom spots for the opening World Cup race Oct. 22 on the Rettenbach Glacier above this mountain community southwest of Innsbruck.
Wind Tunnel: Fast, Faster, Fastest
BUFFALO, N.Y. (Oct. 9) - Daron Rahlves (Sugar Bowl, CA) led a handful of U.S. Ski Team men back to wind tunnel testing Sunday, looking to shave more hundredths of a second off the racing technique which has made him the most successful American male speed racer.
Soft Snow Greets Women in Zermatt
ZERMATT, Switzerland (Oct. 6) - A bright weather forecast for week's end has the seven U.S. women downhillers looking for a pickup in training conditions at Zermatt.
